Summary of General Comments Officer Comments Reference for
Items Actioned
Develop Significant Tree Register – particularly in township areas.
There appears a propensity to cut trees down without notice.
Comment noted. The Shire has a register of significant
trees and a number of culturally significant trees are
identified in the Municipal Heritage Inventory. Overall, the
Shire’s focus is on vegetation, including understorey,
rather than specific trees beyond these mechanisms.
NRPG suggests the use of standard GANTT_PERT chart (timeline
and tasks plan) to:
• outline timeframe for implementation; and
• determination of resources required.
Table 18 on page 91, Include estimates of budgetary and staff
time requirements for each action. The Action Plan will be less
vague and easier to allocate funding during annual budgeting.
Table 18 on page 91, Recommendation to add the following to
table:
• Promotion of Local Biodiversity Strategy to local
community and encourage community engagement in
management of the Shire’s natural areas;
• The steps towards the development of the Local Planning
Policies are listed and the necessary resources identified;
• The Shire should liaise with the EnviroPlanning project to
ensure that the Local Planning Policies can be effective.
• Natural area inventory – adequate time and resources are
needed to maintain all relevant datasets to enable
monitoring of the Local Biodiversity Strategy.
• Link proposed actions in Section 13: Examples of How
Implementing Biodiversity Actions Will Meet Biodiversity
Feature and Representational Targets to actions listed
Comment noted. GANT_PERT charts are operational and
therefore not appropriate to include in strategic
documents.
Comment noted. Budgetary requirements and specific time
requirements will be worked out as part of the operational
implementation of the Local Biodiversity Strategy.
Comment noted. Considered in the development of the
Local Biodiversity Strategy.
Comment noted. To be undertaken as part of the next
Milestone with assistance provided by the PBP.
