Entrance Requirements for the<br />

MSc and PhD Programs<br />

For North American Applicants<br />

1. A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, with a grade point<br />

average of 3.0 and a strong science background;<br />

2. GRE test scores are not required, but a strong GRE<br />

performance can enhance an application;<br />

3. Candidates for the MSc degree in microbiology must<br />

have at least a 3.0 GPA in microbiology courses;<br />

4. Two letters of recommendation;<br />

5. Prior research experience is a benefit, but not a<br />

requirement.<br />

For British Applicants<br />

1. A first-or second-class degree;<br />

2. Two letters of recommendation;<br />

3. Candidates for the MSc degree in microbiology must<br />

have strong scores in microbiology courses;<br />

4. Prior research experience is a benefit, but not a requirement.<br />

For Applicants from Other Systems<br />

of Education<br />

1. A bachelor’s degree (BS) or the equivalent in addition to<br />
