H report of state revenue compiled by the<br />

department of finance, tax revenue on<br />

combined amusements for November 1952 was<br />

$95,197.79 as compared to $122,247.15 for<br />

November 1951, a decrease of $27,049.36. Tax<br />

revenue for July through November 1952 was<br />

$702,207.64, as compared to $726,024.45 for 1951,<br />

a decrease of $23,816.81 . . . James E. Thompson,<br />

manager of the Sunset EVrive-In, Bowling<br />

Green, stopped over for a visit to the Row<br />

enroute to Washington, Philadelphia and New<br />

York. Jimmy, formerly with William Goldman<br />

Theatres in Philadelphia, is now<br />

handling executive duties for Warren Enterprises<br />

in Bowling Green.<br />

Sam Thompson, manager of the Lyric,<br />

Guthrie, is the father of a new daughter,<br />

born Saturday (10) ... lATSE Local 163 has<br />

State March of Dimes campaign chairman<br />

Judge John Darnell was informed by Gene<br />

Lutes, manager for Chakeres Theatres in<br />

Kentucky, that a special show was given<br />

Saturday (17 1 morning in all nine of the<br />

firm's theatres in six Kentucky towns. The<br />

proceeds were turned over to the March of<br />

Dimes campaign fund in Kentucky. The<br />

shows, which started at 9:30 a. m., included<br />

a Roy Rogers film, our Gang comedy and<br />

cartoons. Admissions were 25 cents. The<br />

The initial meeting of the convention committee<br />

of tlie Kentucky Ass'n of Theatre<br />

Owners was held at the Pendennis club here<br />

on January 14 at noon. The date of the annual<br />

KATO convention has been set for<br />

March 25, 26 in the Roof Garden of the<br />

Brown hotel here. In addition to the usual<br />

convention functions, the KATO convention<br />

will again feature displays by manufacturers<br />

of<br />

new products.<br />

RKO and Theatrical both entered the hall<br />

of fame with new totals to rank among the<br />

high threes of the season in both three games<br />

and singles. RKO rolled 2.443 and 844. respectively,<br />

and Theatrical hit 2.370 and 840.<br />

Sturgess rolled 223. to hit a second high for<br />

an individual game for the season, tieing with<br />

Sullivan. England and Goryl.<br />

CLEVELAND — National Theatre Supply<br />

team of the Local 160 Bowling league took<br />

two games from the Local 160 team. It rolled<br />

889 in the third game for the high single<br />

game of the season. NTS's Clarence Kramer<br />

contributed to his team's record with 209<br />

for the first 200 game. Tom Smart, local<br />

160 team captain, rolled 532.<br />

Ancan Corp. Team, made up of Earl Gehringer.<br />

captain; Harry Lee, Joe Busik, Joe<br />

Zill and Carl Lucht, took two games from<br />

Suprex Carbons tieing the last game with<br />

809. However, the 5-pin handicap was enough<br />

to win. Loss of the second game was attributed<br />

to Gehringer's 121—the low for the<br />

season.<br />

'Diehard Hildreth, auditor for 20th-Fox. was<br />

was guest at a luncheon given by the Fred<br />

Ziv Advertising Co. here when he played<br />

in "John Brown's Body." legitimate show, at<br />

the Taft Theatre. William Blum of U-I, who<br />

attended the luncheon, said Power's new picture,<br />

"Mississippi Gambler," will open here<br />

in February.<br />

Rosemary Clooney will make a personal<br />

appearance on the Albee stage January 29,<br />

following her appearance at the Maysville,<br />

Ky., world premiere of her first picture,<br />

"The Stars Are Singing." This Paramount<br />

picture opens at the Albee here January 29.<br />

Maysville, Ky.. i.s the former home of Miss<br />

Clooney.<br />

Helen Cole, secretary to U-I Manager Jack<br />

Finberg. is resigning, to join General Electric.<br />

Finberg is in Florida recuperating from a<br />

recent illness and Ross Williams, city salesman,<br />

is acting manager . . . George Fetick,<br />

booking and buying service operator, is still<br />

confined to the hospital. Fetick's wife Mary<br />

died of a heart attack recently while her<br />

husband was being treated at the hospital.<br />
