Analysis.—The changing tempo <strong>of</strong> this song may have been due, in part, to<br />
circumstances under which the song was recorded. Only the principal changes<br />
in tempo are shown in the transcription. The keynote occurs as the opening tone,<br />
but appears only as an unaccented tone in the remainder <strong>of</strong> the song. The melody<br />
is pleasing, with a regular rhythm that is probably connected with the motion <strong>of</strong><br />
grinding the corn. Like the other songs <strong>of</strong> this series, it ends with a ritard <strong>and</strong> a<br />
phrase in slow tempo.<br />
