PROTECTING STEEL DOORS<br />
WITH RECESSED TOP<br />
Recess of 3/4" or more<br />
The third method for protecting steel doors with recessed tops uses a regular<br />
switch with a door recess of 3/4" (1.9 cm) or more.<br />
Caution: Consult factory for installations on steel doors without recessed tops.<br />
Make sure recess is at least 3/4" (1.9 cm) deep.<br />
Glue wood block in top of door. The thickness of the block should leave 5/8"<br />
(1.59 cm) to the top of the door.<br />
Carefully align position for switch and magnet. The end of the magnet must be<br />
centered on the switch as shown.<br />
Drill hole for switch in door frame — 11/16" (1.75 cm) for 1078CW,<br />
15/16" (2.38 cm) for 1078W.<br />
Wire switch to loop and insert in frame.<br />
Drill hole for magnet — 9/16" (1.43 cm) for 1078CW, 5/8" (1.59 cm) for 1078W.<br />
Wire switch to loop and insert in frame.<br />
Using RTV or epoxy, glue magnet in place.<br />
Retest.<br />
