The PAC produced two ‘Welcome’ Newsletters in <strong>2010</strong>,<br />

which aimed to provide the surrounding community with<br />

information on the <strong>Hospital</strong>’s activities, new initiative and<br />

achievements<br />

In <strong>2010</strong>, three Community Consultations were held in local<br />

community settings. The purpose of these consultations is<br />

to provide an opportunity to meet with the people for whom<br />

the <strong>Hospital</strong> provides services in their own areas, away from<br />

the <strong>Hospital</strong>.<br />

The meetings are structured to ensure that those in<br />

attendance have access to information, can learn about<br />

developments at the <strong>Hospital</strong>, contribute their views, debate<br />

ideas, participate in helping further develop services and<br />

give feedback to the hospital on areas where they believe<br />

improvements are needed.<br />

Performance Indicator Programme<br />

<strong>St</strong>. James’s <strong>Hospital</strong> Performance Indicator Programme was<br />

further expanded in <strong>2010</strong>. Currently 233 key performance<br />

indicators are tracked monthly within four broad categories:<br />

• <strong>Hospital</strong> Wide Indicators<br />

• Speciality Specifi c Indicators<br />

• Operational Performance Indicators<br />

• Non-Clinical indicators<br />

• Each performance indicator selected has been designed<br />

to assist in the ongoing assessment of clinical/non-clinical<br />

effectiveness and appropriateness.<br />

In <strong>2010</strong> additional Indicators measuring cancer activity and<br />

access to diagnostic and treatment modalities were included<br />

in the hospital programme.<br />

The Performance Indicator Programme has also been<br />

recognised and endorsed nationally and internationally.<br />
