Introduction<br />
The ORIAN Directorate comprises Operating Rooms,<br />
Anaesthesia, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the High<br />
Dependency Unit (HDU), the Pain Medicine Service, the Day<br />
Surgery Unit, Endovascular and LASER Units and <strong>St</strong>erile<br />
Supplies, providing anaesthesia, theatre, critical care, pain<br />
medicine and sterilisation services for the hospital.<br />
Developments in <strong>2010</strong><br />
At the start of <strong>2010</strong> Dr. Carl Fagan took over from Dr. Jeanne<br />
Moriarty as clinical director. Dr.. Carmel Wall commenced as<br />
the new chairman of department from Dr. Peter Vaughan.<br />
Dr. Mark Halligan commenced as a consultant anaesthetist<br />
with a shared post between The Eye and Ear hospital and <strong>St</strong>.<br />
James. Dr. Elizabeth Connolly remains on long term leave and<br />
Dr. Enda O’Connor has fi lled her position. Dr. Danny Collins<br />
has taken over from Dr. Tom Ryan as Director of ICU.<br />

• 12 people completed the foundation course in Intensive<br />
Care Nursing<br />
• 5-candidates completed the Higher Diploma Course<br />
