Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:<br />

• Depict the historical, social, economic and philosophic bases of education in<br />

American society.<br />

• Describe the structure and practices of early childhood education in<br />

contemporary American society.<br />

• Describe an environment for young children that fosters their acquisition of<br />

good health, safety and nutrition.<br />

Electronic Commerce, Associate in Applied<br />

Science (ECM)<br />

Electronic Commerce is the advertising, selling and buying of products and<br />

services-both retail to the consumers, and wholesale, from business to<br />

business-through the Internet. The program in Electronic Commerce is intended<br />

for small business owners and employees of companies that engage in<br />

electronic commerce to develop and deploy e-business solutions. The emphasis<br />

in the program is on the development of sound business and computer skills<br />

to participate in the growing world of electronic commerce. With this focus, the<br />

program teaches individuals how to attract people to the Web site, what to do<br />

with customers once they are on a Web site, how to provide customer service<br />

through the Internet, and how the Web site fits into a company's larger goals<br />

and marketing scheme.<br />

This program combines traditional liberal arts and business courses with<br />

hands-on computer skills. Emphasis in the program is on the management,<br />

marketing, advertising and legal implications of operating a business that<br />

conducts electronic commerce.<br />

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:<br />

• Discuss electronic commerce concepts and practices.<br />

• Identify terms used in electronic commerce and related technologies.<br />

• Discuss the global Impact of electronic commerce on business.<br />

• Develop and maintain a web page to market a product or service.<br />

• Apply business principles to electronic commerce.<br />

• Use computer software and applications to enhance business operations.<br />

• Develop a supply chain strategy for a business operation.<br />

• Discuss the legal, political and ethical issues associated with an<br />

international business that engages in electronic commerce.<br />
