1752. Dec. 8. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Mr. John Shari3,i"5 yicar of Hartburn,<br />

in Northiiniljeiiand, came to his father's in the College with his Ijride,<br />

one of the daughters of the late Dr. Deering, dean of Ripon.<br />

1752. Sept. (sic) 28th. In the night between the 28th and 29th<br />

died at .Sedbuiy, Henry Darcy, esq.^^^ Buried at Gilling, Wednesday,<br />

November [sic) 1.<br />

1752. Dec. 20. This day I got a fall from my horse on Habressi^^'^<br />

moor by his turning very quickly round to screen his head from a<br />

pelting shower of hail, but, thank God, I got little or no hurt. For<br />

which and all other His mercies sif nomen Dnmini henedictum. Amen.<br />

1753. Jan. 1. Died of a disorder from the palsey, William Pye,i°''<br />

esq., register to the dean and chapter of Durham and auditor to the<br />

bishop. (He was succeeded in his office of register by Mr. Peter<br />

Bowlby, a young man about 23 years of age, who had been Mr. Pye's<br />

clerk, and carried the election against Braems Wheeler, a proctor.)<br />

1753. Jan. 24. My old acquaintance, William Peirse,^^'^ esq., of<br />

Hutton Bonville in Yorkshire, died this day and left one daughter.<br />

His second brother, Richard, succeeded to the estate.<br />

1753. Jan. 26. This day William Maud, a quaker of Sunderland,<br />

and a man of very good credit and fortune, went to Shields and came<br />

from thence on his way homeAvards, but has not yet been heard of,<br />

although the horse he rode on was found that evening, but without<br />

his master : 'tis supposed Mr. Maud was robbed and murdered and<br />

his body privately disposed of.<br />

1753. Feb. 15. Died at Croft the Rev. 'Mr. George Neale, rector<br />

of that ]:)arish and vicar of Barningham. <strong>The</strong> wound on his face<br />

occasioned by cutting off the cancer was liealed almost entirely, but<br />

he fell into a decay which carried him off.^"^<br />

Last week was married at Rippon in Yorkshire the Rev. ]\lr. John Sharp,<br />

son of the Rev. Dr. Sharp, vicar of Hartburn in Northumberland, to Miss<br />

Dcaring, daiighter of the late Dr. Bearing, dean of Kippon, etc. Neuxastlt<br />

Courant, 16th December, 1752.<br />
