1685. 28 March. [Diedj Gregory Welsh, porter to the bishopp<br />

of Durham, Nathaniel Crew.^-<br />

1685. 23Ai3ril. [Died] Mr. John Whitti, a popish taylor, being<br />

very vexatious to the taylors in Durham.<br />

1685. 28 April. Judith Sherewood [married] to a taylor of Hexham,<br />

being the king's coronation day.^^<br />

1685. 7 May. An old man fell of horse-back and kild himself©<br />

the day before in Kenton longing, called by the name of John Bell.<br />

1685. 8 May. Mr. Price, shooemaker and brandy-seller, was<br />

drowned near Pelley Leases, being Friday this year, by accident.^*<br />

day of December, being a baliffe.<br />

made Spiritual Chancellor of Durham, 16th Dec, 1676, and, in the following<br />

month, was knighted. He represented the City of Durham in the parliaments of<br />

1679, 1680, 1685, and after holding many preferments died 28th .June, 1686,<br />

aged 52, and was buried at St. Bennet's, near Paul's Wharf. Gf. Foster,<br />

Ahimni Oxonieiises, etc.<br />

Mr. Charles Montague represented Dui'ham City in the parliaments of 1685,<br />

1695, 1698, 1700, 1701, and 1710.<br />
