1. Observe the slide of the area of lateral root origin on low power, then on high power.<br />

2. Determine the tissue from which the lateral root is growing. (See Figure 53-2).<br />

smaller and less developed closer to the meristem and that they elongate and mature as<br />

they get older (farther up the root).<br />
