Foundation Diploma - Entry Level 2 & 3
Duration: 1 year
location: HC
About the course
The course gives you a basic understanding of what
working in horticulture involves. This learning will
provide you with the skills and knowledge required to
find employment or progress to additional courses in
horticulture. During the course you will be given the
opportunity to use an extensive selection of hand tools
and industry recognised equipment. Students studying
this course will also complete a wide range of activities
promoting social development and employability skills.
As part of the land based team you will be asked to
complete tasks common to the horticulture industry and
produce plants to a sales standard.
You will study a wide range of horticulture tasks.
• Plant propagation
• Vegetable production
• Plant maintenance
• Pruning
• Pest and disease control
• Maintenance of a range of growing areas
• Production season plant displays
The courses are practical “hands on” programmes taught
in the context of real jobs and careers in a vocational
sector. The practical tasks are determined by seasonal
requirements and the demand from our customers. This
gives you the chance to explore the opportunities in that
sector, and acquire the appropriate vocational skills.
You will also be required to undertake Functional
Skills and Personal & Social Development as part of
your programme.
