About the Course<br />

This Royal Horticultural Society course is for those<br />

wishing to gain a Level 2 qualification in Horticulture on<br />

a part time basis.<br />

You will study the following units:<br />

• Plant classification, structure, and function<br />

(5 credits)<br />

• Plant nutrition and the root environment<br />

(3 credits)<br />

• Maintaining plant health (3 credits)<br />

• Understanding plant propagation (3 credits)<br />

Each unit is assessed by a written examination covering<br />

all learning outcomes specified in the unit. Examinations<br />

are taken in June.<br />

Those who successfully complete all the necessary<br />

units for the two Level 2 theory-based qualifications<br />

(Certificate in Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation<br />

and Development and the Certificate in Garden<br />

Planning, Establishment and Maintenance) above will<br />

gain the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of<br />

Horticulture<br />

(28 credits).<br />

Entry Requirements<br />

There are no formal qualification requirements; all you<br />

need is an interest in horticulture!<br />

• Understanding protected environments and their use<br />

in plant cultivation (3 credits)<br />

Each unit is assessed by a written examination covering<br />

all learning outcomes specified in the unit. Examinations<br />

are taken in June.<br />
