Electrical Installation<br />
NVQ Certificate Performing Engineering Operations - Level 1<br />
Duration: 1 year. Also available part-time<br />
location: KC TC<br />
About the Course<br />
This programme will provide you with a basic<br />
understanding of electrical installation work and offers<br />
an opportunity to progress on to a level 2 programme.<br />
This course allows students to acquire transferable hand<br />
skills and a basic knowledge of electrical installation<br />
work. This programme is offered at both the Keighley<br />
and Technology Campuses.<br />
You will learn about<br />
• Working safely in an engineering environment<br />
• Carrying our engineering activities efficiently<br />
and effectively<br />
• Using and communicating technical information<br />
• Assembling electrical wiring support systems<br />
• Wiring electrical equipment and circuits<br />
You will learn the practicalities of how cabling<br />
enclosures, supports, accessories, wiring systems, and<br />
accessories are assembled and installed.<br />
You will also be required to undertake Functional Skills<br />
and Personal & Social Development as part<br />
of your programme.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
Students wishing to enrol to a Foundation Learning<br />
Programme will come with a range of qualifications<br />
which could include GCSEs, units of qualifications<br />
already taken or have few or no qualifications.<br />
All students on Foundation Learning programmes<br />
will be required to take qualifications in Personal and<br />
Social Development, Employability Skills, a vocational<br />
qualification and Maths and English. Each student will<br />
be invited to an interview where a personalised learning<br />
programme can be discussed and agreed.<br />
In all cases offers will be subject to interview/transition<br />
gateway and a positive reference from school/tutor.<br />
Future Opportunities<br />
On successful completion of your programme, you can<br />
progress to a level 2 course in electrical installation, at<br />
<strong>Leeds</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong> (Technology and Keighley Campuses).<br />
You may also progress to an apprenticeship if you find<br />
employment within the Electrical Industry.<br />
