General Information<br />

Research at IFPRl is aimed at contributing to <strong>the</strong> reduction <strong>of</strong> hunger<br />

and malnutrition in low-income countries through <strong>the</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong><br />

underlying processes that extend beyond <strong>the</strong> narrowly defined food<br />

sector. The results <strong>of</strong> IFP2Rl’s research and analysis are intended to<br />

assist policymakers in developing countries make informed decisions<br />

on food policy issues. IFPRl works closely with o<strong>the</strong>r international<br />

and developing-nation institutions to understand food production,<br />

consumption, trade, and growth processes; to develop new<br />

options for policymakers; and to assess <strong>the</strong> efficacy <strong>of</strong> existing<br />

policies.<br />

Individual copies <strong>of</strong> most IFPRl publications are free but multiple<br />

copies will carry a fee plusshipping costs. Thefeevaries with size and<br />

weight <strong>of</strong> publications.<br />

The annual report summarizes <strong>the</strong> year’s work in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute’s<br />

five main programs-food data evaluation, food production<br />

policy, agricultural growth linkages, food consumption and nutrition<br />

policy, and international trade and food security-as well as <strong>the</strong><br />

year’s seminars and collaborative work. Previous issues <strong>of</strong> FPRl<br />

Report are also available.<br />

The main vehicle for reporting IFPRI research results is its Research<br />

Reportseries. The reports, which range from 30 to 180 pages, present<br />

data, analysis, and findings <strong>of</strong> completed research projects. Reports<br />

are reviewed by experts from outside <strong>the</strong> Institute. Since 1976 IFPRl<br />

has published 80 research reports.<br />

These are free, except for multiple copies and to <strong>books</strong>ellers, when<br />

<strong>the</strong>y cost $3.00 for publications with 48 or fewer pages, and $4.00 for<br />

publications with 49 or more pages. Surface mail is free; air postage<br />

costs $3.00.<br />
