Introduction
The Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development was
established in 1985, and incoporates more than 50 years of combined
organizational experience in providing technical assistance
and professional expertiseto international agricultural development.
One of the largest independent entities engaged in international
agricultural development, Winrock International was created throughs
the merging of the Agricultural Development Center (A/D/C), the
International Agricultural Development Service (IADS), and the Winrock
International Livestock Research and Training Center. Winrock
International is an autonomous, nonprofit corporation.
Mission
Winrock International’s mission is to help people around the world by
increasing agricultural productivity and improving nutrition. Since agricultural
development is by its nature a team effort, cooperative
relationships are the key to its success. Accordingly, Winrock staff
members work with host governments, private voluntary organizations,
producer groups, and others to provide research and analysis,
education and training, technical assistance, and communications
services. Areas of emphasis are human resources, renewable resources,
food policy, animal agriculture and farming systems, and
agricultural research and extension.
