Low-Temperature
POLYCOVER
This excellent product was formerly known as Low temperature
Oracover. We are changing the name to Low Temperature Polycover.
For years we assumed that the ready-built and ready-covered airplanes
that we were getting from Germany, Czech Republic and other
European countries were covered with regular Polycover. But when
we compared the covering on these airplanes — particularly the lighter
weight airplanes — to the Polycover that we stocked we discovered
that the coverings were different. The planes were covered with a
lighter-weight plastic film than the Polycover that we stocked.
Low-Temperature Polycover is made of polyester instead of polypropylene
plastic. It is less rubbery than poly coverings and is stronger. It
comes with instructions for its application. If you will follow these
instructions you will have a covering job that will not sag, will not have
trapped air bubbles, and which will greatly increase the strength of
your model airplane.
Our NEW Low-Temperature Polycover solid colors weigh from 1.8 oz.
to 2.4 oz. per square yard. Our NEW Low-Temperature Transparent
Polycover weighs about 1.4 oz. per square yard.
Low-temperature Polycover comes in
26” wide, 78” long rolls.
Covering Material
Superfabric: easily applied, this incredibly strong
covering may improve your plane's flight!
Superfabric is a woven fabric iron-on heat-shrink model covering material that
has a strong adhesive to bond it to the model. The colors are slightly transparent.
Each roll is 26" wide and 6-1/2 feet long.
Superfabric has some highly desirable characteristics:
1. It is very easy to apply because it keeps shrinking while you apply heat
from your iron or heat gun so that every wrinkle disappears.
2. Once in place it is extremely strong and puncture resistant, and greatly increases
the strength of your airplane's structure.
3. It has a scale weave for scale models of fabric covered aircraft.
4. Superfabric should be considered for covering the wings of high speed
model airplanes. The texture of its weave promotes good boundary layer airflow
and lower drag than smooth coverings.
5. Superfabric is light. A square yard of Old Timer color weighed 2.715
ounces. Manufacturer says 3.5 oz./sq. yd.
Superkote: the brightest colors in plastic
covering material
Superkote is a plastic, iron-on, heat-shrink model covering material that
adheres and shrinks at low temperatures. 26” wide, 6 foot long rolls.
Superkote shrinks tremendously under heat so that wrinkles are easily
shrunk to non-existence. Superkote adheres to itself very well so that overlapping
joints are permanent and nearly invisible. It’s easy to repair in
case of punctures. You apply it with low heat so that it can be applied without
heat damage to underlying foam structures.
HLC400 Balsaloc Adhesive for Litespan, 3.7oz. jar ............ $9.89
Litespan is a very light, strong, airtight, waterproof model covering material
made of interwelded polyester fibers. The colors yellow, orange, red, and blue
are only 28 to 30 grams per sq. Yard — under 1 oz. Per sq. Yard. The remaining
colors are more opaque and are 32 to 35 grams per sq. Meter —
about 1 oz. Per sq. Yard. Litespan has no adhesive so Balsaloc must be
applied to the airplane structure before ironing on the Litespan. From then on
Litespan is shrunk in place like the plastic film materials.
