Large long-range container ship as seen on the world’s oceans<br />
Container ships such as the SYDNEY STAR are an<br />
increasingly common sight on the world’s oceans,<br />
as the use of standardized containers - they are<br />
identical the world over - makes it simple and fast to<br />
load and unload goods. For this reason virtually all<br />
goods are transported by container ship nowadays.<br />
For long-distance journeys (Asia - Europe -<br />
America) large container ships with vast transport<br />
capacity are employed, which can only<br />
be accommodated in particular ports. These<br />
ports are specially equipped for handling<br />
containers, and for this reason the ships require no<br />
loading bridge. The containers are then carried on<br />
the remainder of their journey by smaller container ships (coastal vessels), or by road and rail.<br />
The SYDNEY STAR is a semi-scale model of a long-range container ship. The model<br />
includes all the characteristic features and details of these vessels, as we wanted the ship<br />
to have as realistic an appearance as possible. Construction of the model is greatly simplified<br />

bythe high level of pre-fabrication of the kit’s components, many of them die-cut or CNC-machined, plus the many<br />
fittings included in the kit as standard, including winches, companionways and injection-molded handrails. Nevertheless,<br />
the model is only recommended for the experienced marine modeller. The two transverse thrusters at bow and stern allow the model to<br />
traverse (move sideways) and turn on the spot without difficulty, without the need for tugs.<br />
Contents of the quick-build kit: Quick-build plan, RC installation plan, illustrated assembly instructions including RC installation<br />
instructions in German, English and French. Vacuum-molded, CNC-trimmed ABS hull and deck components. Additional vacuum-molded<br />
ABS parts include bridge components, funnel, containers, loading hatches, lifeboats, breakwater, masts, rudders and other small<br />
items, printed and die-cut ABS and wooden parts, strip material, tubing, wire and rod, decal sheet, complete fittings set, propeller shaft,<br />
propeller, motor mount, shaft coupling, rudder system components, boatstand and other small items.<br />
Optional functions that can be installed: Bow thruster, stern thruster, and other auxiliary working systems such as rotating radar antenna<br />
can be installed at the builder’s discretion.<br />

Full-size fishing cutters of the North Sea are equipped with powerful<br />
combustion engines, while the mizzen-mast sail near the stern only<br />
serves to stabilize the cutter when running. Despite its small<br />
dimensions (1:60th scale) the model duplicates the full-size<br />
counterpart well. Thanks to its ready-formed hull molded of ABS<br />
plastic and the many injection-molded parts the model can be<br />
assembled in a short time, requiring little skill for its completion.<br />
Contents of the quick-build kit: Quickbuild plan with R/C installation,<br />
illustrated building instructions incl. R/C installation in German, plus<br />
Dutch, English and French. Molded hull and miscellaneous parts of<br />
