“Chance” - Antoine et Manuel
“Big Birds with Big Eyes” - Hort
permanent reminder of extremely successful marketing
strategic thinking has been exciting guests for more than
a year.
Fox did not require great, famous and very expensive designers:
gifted members of chosen club that decorated
the hotel were keen to prove themselves and to take
their chance for breakthrough, which for many worked
out perfectly.
The hotel Fox is in the same time a gallery of contemporary
art as well as a hotel which exhibits (unfortunately)
can’t be viewed all in one day. So it is not a surprise that
the hotel is constantly booked. There is almost no tehnique
which is not applied – from a print to auto laquer;
each room of the Fox is a story by itself. This story was creating
in a melting pot of the two weeks intensive artistic
inspiration of designers coming from all over the world,
met together in Kopenhagen.
Artists had absolute creative freedom from choosing
furntire, flooring, curtains etc.
The “Anti-gravity” room is decorated by hand drawn illustration
made by London design studio Neasden Contol
Centre, “Logo” room covered in prints, than the Heide
room with kitsch illustration by Swiss comic strip drawer
Benjamin Gudel, the “Australian room” of Brisbane team
Rinzen in which a koala is humbly looking at you, the room
“Authentic mithic monsters“ on which walls there are dinosaur
and “monster-truck“ together and the whole line
of other rooms with pure lines and skillful discrete graphic
interventions.
Some of the well known designers were “Antoine et
Manuel“ the French duo who works for brands like Habitat
or Lacroix. And they two, of course, gave their imagionation
free wings in this sphere of unlimited creativity.
Of course, even common places as the restaurant and
lobby were not left out of unusual designs. The only firmly
defined characteristics were the size of a bed and bathroom
as a standard for all rooms.
At all this, however, nothing of comfort, which spoiled
MTV generation requires, has been sacrificed: the rooms
are designed in four seizes – from “small“ to “extra large“,
and all are equipped with speed internet link, plasma TV
screens and screens for computers as well as regular hotel
services. Curiosity: in the Fox you can rent even an iPod!
In a year and half the Fox became not only a place for
spiritually young “globtrotters“ but a place for connoiseurs,
too. Parallel with the choice of designers in the
same way and based on inventive ideas 12 young chefs
and hotel managers were chosen among the group
of the best 25. The Fox’s restaurant is a real treasury of
healthy and unusual food which is, of course, served with
equally unusual tableware, and friendly and relaxed atmosphere
are ideally merged with the basic idea of the
project – to be different.
But the main reason why the Fox should be visited again
and again are the rooms. The lowest price for night in this
Danish-global fairy tail world is 125 Euros, which is not too
much for unique experience. In the Fox you will surely get
your bed time story – told in pictures.
