• Quantity of Waste transferred
6 If the Contractor is required to transfer material (including topsoil) from one
Roads Service site to another site at a different geographical location, transfer
notes shall be required. Similarly, for any materials recycled off-site, an
estimate of the weight of material processed, shall be indicated on transfer
notes.
7 Disposal of Class U1 unacceptable material (as defined in sub-Clause 601-2)
shall be carried out in accordance with the “The Controlled Waste (Duty of
Care) Regulations (Northern Ireland).
Under the Regulations both the Contractor and Carrier (Transferor and
Transferee) shall complete Controlled Waste Transfer Notes.
8 If Class U2 material (as defined in sub-Clause 601-2) is encountered in the
Works, it shall be disposed of in a manner to be agreed between the Contractor
and the Overseeing Organisation and comply with the current Waste
Management legislation in Northern Ireland.
9 Certain particularly difficult or dangerous wastes (“special wastes”) are subject
to additional requirements in the Special Waste Regulations (Northern Ireland)
and other legislation on Road Transport of dangerous substances. The
Contractor shall seek advice from the Environmental and Heritage Service at
the Duty of Care help-line - 02890 546450 or at their website
http://www.ni-environment.gov.uk if he has any doubts concerning applicable
legislation or the constitution of dangerous waste or the identification of any
waste material.
Special Waste is subject to the “The Controlled Waste (Duty of Care)
regulations (Northern Ireland) and the completion of the Waste Transfer Notes /
Season Ticket is required in the same way as Controlled Waste.
