iii)iv)close the Bridge to all use;construct a detour route of a maximum length of 3.5 km;e) reinforce all Fracture Critical members with temporary bracing orcables if the Bridge Structural Engineer determines that the structure issufficiently safe to work on;f) close any structure with damaged Fracture Critical members to alltraffic until repairs have been completed in accordance with therecommendations of the Bridge Structural Engineer;g) place temporary barrier or railing in accordance with theMaintenance Specification for Bridge Railing Maintenance, withno credit for such work under the Maintenance Specification forBridge Railing Maintenance;h) complete and file a Chargeable Maintenance Costs report asapplicable;i) take and forward photographs of the damage to the Province withthe Chargeable Maintenance Costs report; andj) repair any damage to the structure in accordance with theapplicable Maintenance Specifications, with no credit for suchwork under those Maintenance Specifications, unless mutuallyagreed to between the Province and the Contractor.Note:Refer to Section H of the Introduction to these MaintenanceSpecifications.3.1.1 Performance Time FramesThe Contractor must:a) immediately, from the time the damage was detected by orreported to the Contractor, notify the Province of any damage toany structure, so that the Bridge Structural Engineer may make aninspection;b) start installation of temporary barriers or railing placements within24 hours, from the time the damage was detected by or reported tothe Contractor; and2003-2004 Highway Maintenance ContractsMaintenance SpecificationsFebruary 2003, Revised October 30, 2003 Chapter 7-800 – Page 2
