Each training session refers to specific pages of theManual so that participants do not have to take notes during classroom sessions.The Manual also contains a format for taking notes and analysing results in thefield. In addition to the Manual, the following materials were made availablefor the activities during classroom training sessions and fieldwork:- participant’s handbook (see above);- flip chart, markers, tape;- notebooks and pens;- pebbles or beans.BudgetTraining courses on PRDA do not have to be very sophisticated or expensive.The main costs are usually for per diems and transportation. The followingtables contain guidelines for making a budget and a sample budget (forEthiopia) assuming 20 participants, 5 schemes, 10 days training.A good way to measure the effectiveness of your training is to calculate theReturns on Investment. For this you have to monitor annual productivitychanges in the targeted irrigation schemes in the following years and comparethem to the training costs (Table C3).
