301Prerequisite: Students must have completed SWED2002. Swedish II.2. Students wishing to beadmitted to SWED3119 without having previously completed SWED2002. SwedishII.2 will be required to satisfy the Faculty Board through the Head <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong>Modern Languages and Cultures that they have attained elsewhere the requiredstandard.Assessment: 100% coursework. In order to be granted credits for this course, participants arerequested to check with the teacher in charge prior to their enrolment and departurewhether the course they have chosen is suitable for the purpose and, after completing <strong>of</strong>the course, (1) to produce a formal statement <strong>of</strong> attendance and certified transcriptbearing mention <strong>of</strong> the final grade(s) obtained from the host institution, as well as thelevel attained according to the Common European Framework <strong>of</strong> Reference forLanguages (CEFRL); (2) to provide a portfolio including i. a learning journal written inSwedish relating to daily class activities and, ii. samples <strong>of</strong> assessments (writtenassignments, tests, examinations, projects etc.) along with evaluation results.THAI<strong>The</strong> objective <strong>of</strong> the Thai <strong>programme</strong> is to bring participants to a high level <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in thelanguage and to acquire a sound knowledge <strong>of</strong> Thai society and culture as well as <strong>of</strong> the Thaispeakingpart <strong>of</strong> the world.<strong>The</strong> Thai <strong>programme</strong> will also <strong>of</strong>fer a minor in Thai which will provide students with a goodcommand <strong>of</strong> the four different language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. A languageminor will also allow students to gain a deeper insight into the contemporary life and culture <strong>of</strong> therespective country. Languages combine well with all major <strong>programme</strong>s <strong>of</strong>fered within the ArtsFaculty and they also provide students with additional opportunities to pursue further studies overseas.In order to qualify for a minor in Thai, students must complete a total <strong>of</strong> 24 credits in their second (12credits) and third (12 credits) <strong>year</strong>s <strong>of</strong> studies in one <strong>of</strong> the languages listed below. In addition,students will be strongly encouraged to participate in a 3 to 4-week linguistic stay in Thailand duringthe summer between their second and third <strong>year</strong>.Minor (36 credits)To complete a minor in Thai, students are expected to take a total <strong>of</strong> 36 credits with followingcomponents: Prerequisite courses (12 credits):THAI1001. Thai I.1THAI1002. Thai I.2<strong>The</strong>se courses will be <strong>of</strong>fered to undergraduates in <strong>year</strong> 1 or 2.Core courses (24 credits):THAI2001. Thai II.1THAI2002.
