81LCOM3005.Internship in language and communication (6 credits)<strong>The</strong> internships in language and communication are meant as a capstone experience for studentsmajoring or minoring in Language and Communication. This credit-bearing internship course, adevelopment <strong>of</strong> the earlier Language and Communication Internship Scheme (LCIS), supports theLanguage and Communication (L&C) <strong>programme</strong>’s goal <strong>of</strong> encouraging its students to beginexploring questions <strong>of</strong> their career, and provides an opportunity for L&C students to broaden theirundergraduate education through experiential learning via an internship, and, in the process, acquireinvaluable work experience through on-the-job training in organizations in <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>. With theL&C <strong>programme</strong> having its focus on real-world contexts in the multilingual, globalized world <strong>of</strong>today, the internship places students in a context for the use and appreciation <strong>of</strong> communicativecompetence and a honing <strong>of</strong> transferable skills for a wide range <strong>of</strong> careers, including education,editing and publishing, public administration, public relations, marketing, the media, tourism, andcultural affairs.Assessment: 100% coursework.
