find space. The barracks looked not so nice<br />
in some moment, as many people came and<br />
stole various things, like installations for<br />
heating, radiators, windows and other elements<br />
of the building. There was a lot of material<br />
as the barracks are huge, before 1991<br />
there were over 7000 soldiers there.<br />
In one moment there had come together a<br />
very large number of organisations and the<br />
city decided to give everything to them, but<br />
with the obligation to pay. Not one single<br />
organisation wanted to pay, because all had<br />
to build everything on their own and the city<br />
paid only water and electricity. The building<br />
is still in the ownership of the Foreign<br />
Ministry of Croatia 2 , but given to the city<br />
for use, so that the legal situation is not<br />
precisely regulated. The city in the end accepted<br />
the fact that nobody would pay, but<br />
that we can talk about building alterations.<br />
At the moment there are working 77 quite<br />
different organisations 3 there. There is us<br />
with our Monteparadiso Hacklab, which is<br />
connected to media activism, free software<br />
and use of new technologies, there is a Roma<br />
kindergarten, a group of the Macedonian<br />
minority, Hungarian und Serbian minorities<br />
have a space as well as some organisations<br />
of disabled persons, aerobic clubs etc. There<br />
is anything and everything, as well what we<br />
don’t like, because besides organisations that<br />
are useful for the community there are also<br />
organisations that succeeded somehow to legalize<br />
their private business telling the story<br />
about “building up the civil society”.<br />

smo ušli, ali nikada nismo hteli platiti. Uzeli<br />
smo dodatnih 400 kvm da bi mogli nastaviti<br />
i sa drugim aktivnostima. Pomagali smo i<br />
ostalim organizacijama da si nađu prostor<br />
unutra. Kasarna u jedom trenutku nije ličila<br />
ni na šta, jer mnogi su ljudi dolazili krasti<br />
razne stvari, tipa instalacije za grijanje,<br />
radijatore, prozore, i ostale građevinske elemente.<br />
Bilo je dosta materijala jer je kasarna<br />
ogromna, tamo je bilo pre 1991. godine<br />
preko 7000 vojnika.<br />
U jednom trenutku se sakupio veliki broj<br />
organizacija i grad je odlučio dati im sve<br />
ali pod uslovom da plate. Niti jedna organizacija<br />
nije htela platiti, jer svi koji smo ušli<br />
unutra, smo morali sve sami izgraditi, i tu je<br />
bila jedino voda i struja koju je grad plaćao.<br />
Zgrada je još uvek u vlasništvu Ministarstva<br />
odbrane Hrvatske 2 ali je data na korišćenje<br />
gradu, tako da u ovoj situaciji i pravni odnosi<br />
nisu precizno regulirani.Grad je na kraju<br />
prihvatio činjenicu da niko nikada neće<br />
platiti za biti unutra, ali da možemo razgovarati<br />
o uređenju zgrade.<br />
Trenutno u Rojcu deluje 773 organizacija 3 ,<br />
baš sasvim različitih. Tu delujemo mi sa<br />
našim Monteparadiso Hacklabom, koji je<br />
vezan za medijski aktivizam, za Free Softwere<br />
i korišćenje novih tehnologija, ovde<br />
postoji i Romski vrtić, a udruge mekedonske<br />
manjine, srpske manjine, mađarske<br />
manjine imaju također svoj prostor, zatim<br />
nekoliko organizacija invalida, do aerobik<br />
klubova itd. Ima svega i svačega, što nama<br />
baš ne paše, jer u zgradi, gde imamo organizacije<br />
koje su zaista korisne za zajednicu,<br />
