Responsible Being responsible is a critical quality that all high achievers have. The word responsibility can be broken down into two words – response and ability. Therefore, responsibility simply means the ability to respond to any situation. High performers live their life following these principles: A. They take full responsibility for all aspects of their lives. They live from the premise that they are 100% responsible for everything they experience in life and act as if they create, promote or allow everything that does or doesn’t happen to them. High performers are able to change their response to any situation or event until they get the end result they want. B. They keep their agreements because they know that every agreement they make is ultimately an agreement they make with themselves. High performers value trust, credibility, respect and integrity, and are aware that by not keeping their agreements, it will result in a loss of self-­‐confidence and self-­‐respect. They only make agreements they intend to keep, and are not afraid to say no in order to maintain their integrity and self-­esteem.C. Whenever things seem to be getting difficult, or if life gets them down, they know that they are responsible for 134
