Lexus Builds Full Hybrid Monaco Wedding Car<br />
In 2011 Lexus was named ‘Offi cial Supplier to H.S.H. <strong>the</strong><br />
Sovereign Prince <strong>of</strong> Monaco’. Also, confi rming Prince<br />
Albert II’s commitment to <strong>more</strong> environmen<strong>tal</strong>ly friendly<br />
solutions, a Lexus full hybrid car was chosen for <strong>the</strong><br />
occasion <strong>of</strong> his marriage to Miss Charlene Wittstock on<br />
Saturday 2 nd July 2011.<br />
His Serene Highness takes a keen interest in encouraging<br />
innovative solutions for environmen<strong>tal</strong> protection and<br />
sustainable development around <strong>the</strong> world. In 2006 he<br />
established <strong>the</strong> Prince Albert II <strong>of</strong> Monaco Foundation, which<br />
supports <strong>more</strong> <strong>than</strong> 150 projects. These range from <strong>the</strong><br />
monitoring <strong>of</strong> environmen<strong>tal</strong> evolution to protecting species<br />
endangered <strong>by</strong> climate change. It also provides assistance<br />
in water management in developing regions. Since His<br />
accession to <strong>the</strong> throne in 2005, His Serene Highness has<br />
defi ned an ambitious strategic direction for <strong>the</strong> Principality<br />
in terms <strong>of</strong> sustainable mobility. He has notably asked his<br />
government to develop policies that clearly focus on mobility<br />
means with lower environmen<strong>tal</strong> impact.<br />
Award-Winning Lexus CT 200h<br />
The Lexus CT 200h was named as <strong>the</strong> ‘Belgian Clean Car<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Year 2011’ in <strong>the</strong> fl eet category at <strong>the</strong> Brussels Motor<br />
Show. The cars nominated in <strong>the</strong> fl eet category were: Audi<br />
A4 2.0 TDI; Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Econetic; Lexus CT 200h;<br />
Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 Di-D 2 WD; Nissan Leaf; Peugeot iOn;<br />
Skoda Superb Greenline 1.6 TDI; Volvo V50 1.6D DRIVe; VW<br />
Passat Variant 1.6 TDI Bluemotion. The ‘Belgian Clean Car<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Year’ is awarded <strong>by</strong> two leading Belgian automotive<br />
magazines (Le Moniteur Automobile and Fleet) and also <strong>by</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Belgian Automobile Club and <strong>the</strong> Circuit <strong>of</strong> Zolder. The<br />
jury consisted <strong>of</strong> specialists in sustainable mobility such<br />
as automotive journalists, an environmen<strong>tal</strong> NGO and a<br />
renowned university pr<strong>of</strong>essor. The award is divided into two<br />
main categories: City and Fleet. This is <strong>the</strong> fi rst year <strong>the</strong> prize<br />
has been awarded.<br />
