In almost all the <strong>in</strong>stitutions accredited to deliver the doctorate diploma by the M<strong>in</strong>istry ofHigher Education (Universities, Eng<strong>in</strong>eer Schools), the students have to take course work dur<strong>in</strong>g theirdoctoral degree preparation. The total hours range between 50 hours <strong>and</strong> 150 hours for the durationof the doctorate; the effective amount is def<strong>in</strong>ed by the doctoral school.2. The course work is not assessed by exam<strong>in</strong>ations. There are three types of courses: specialistcourses, general education courses (languages, communications, etc...) <strong>and</strong> professional courses(patents, <strong>in</strong>tellectual property, transfer towards <strong>in</strong>dustry, structure of companies, <strong>and</strong> contacts with<strong>in</strong>dustry).3. Credit system: the course work is not usually described by a credit system. However, somedoctoral schools def<strong>in</strong>e credits <strong>in</strong>stead of number of hours.4. Monitor<strong>in</strong>g: no official monitor<strong>in</strong>g of the doctoral student. However, some doctoral schoolsorganize some milestones dur<strong>in</strong>g the thesis work, for example, an <strong>in</strong>termediate defense by the studentat midway.Contribution to Teach<strong>in</strong>g1. This contribution is not m<strong>and</strong>atory. However, the future doctors who plan to apply to highereducation positions must have a teach<strong>in</strong>g experience.2. For these doctoral students, they may supervise undergraduate laboratory works, depend<strong>in</strong>gon the courses. The registration <strong>in</strong>stitution of the student must manage this activity.3. Some student may teach undergraduate course, depend<strong>in</strong>g on the courses.Presentation of Work1. In the department.2. At national conferences.3. At <strong>in</strong>ternational conferences with published proceed<strong>in</strong>gs (this po<strong>in</strong>t should be achieved beforethe defense of the doctorate or PhD).4.
