There has been an increase from 90 to 129 in1994.• Main types of financingMost scholarships are granted directly from the university. Other sources are: the NorwegianResearch Council, the Norwegian Telecom, several large companies, and EU programmes.• Professional recognitionThe PhD. degree from Norway is considered to be on an international Ph.D. level, and externalopponents, always at least one from abroad, assure that this is the case.
