EIE-SurveyorBologna process <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>• an implementation of quality assessment methodologies on some educational resourcesavailable <strong>in</strong> EIE,• a reflection <strong>and</strong> proposition of a methodology for accreditation, <strong>in</strong> order to enhancecomparability <strong>and</strong> common certification procedures,• a census of the exist<strong>in</strong>g curricula <strong>in</strong> EIE <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>, the mult<strong>in</strong>ational degrees, <strong>and</strong> the situationof the implementation of the Bologna-process <strong>in</strong> EIE, at the bachelor, master <strong>and</strong> PhD levels.U3. The EIE-Surveyor consortiumThis TN comprises 107 <strong>Europe</strong>an academic <strong>in</strong>stitutions represent<strong>in</strong>g 29 eligible countries (all the 27current EU countries except Luxembourg) plus Norway, Icel<strong>and</strong>, Turkey, <strong>and</strong> 2 non eligible countries(Ukra<strong>in</strong>e <strong>and</strong> Lebanon). Besides the academic <strong>in</strong>stitutions some other organisations, such as:<strong>in</strong>dustrial companies, research <strong>in</strong>stitutes <strong>and</strong> societies, are <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the network: BEST (Board of<strong>Europe</strong>an Students of Technology), EAEEIE (<strong>Europe</strong>an Association for Education <strong>in</strong> <strong>Electrical</strong> <strong>and</strong>Information Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g), IEEE French <strong>and</strong> German chapters on Education <strong>and</strong> the French Club EEA(www.clubeea.org).The goal of the <strong>project</strong> is to become a reference po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong> EIE <strong>and</strong>, at the same time, to enhance theattractiveness of the <strong>Europe</strong>an Research Area (ERA), the l<strong>in</strong>ks with <strong>in</strong>dustry, <strong>and</strong> to participate <strong>in</strong> thecont<strong>in</strong>uous evolution of higher education <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>. To answer these needs, the ongo<strong>in</strong>g activities ofthe <strong>project</strong>, as identified <strong>in</strong> the contract, are:• the sett<strong>in</strong>g up of common def<strong>in</strong>itions about the competencies to def<strong>in</strong>e the paths of the students,dur<strong>in</strong>g their studies,• the analysis of accreditation procedures <strong>and</strong> methodologies all over <strong>Europe</strong> (<strong>and</strong> also <strong>in</strong> thirdworld countries) <strong>in</strong> order to make some propositions for a common or shared approach,throughout <strong>Europe</strong>, <strong>in</strong> order to enhance comparability of curricula <strong>and</strong> recognition of diplomas,• the sett<strong>in</strong>g of quality assessment of some pedagogical resources available <strong>in</strong> EIE <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>,• the state of the art of the implementation of the Bologna process <strong>in</strong> EIE <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>, the variouscurricula available, at the Bachelor, Master <strong>and</strong> PhD levels,• the existence of <strong>in</strong>ternational curricula.- 8 -
