Parts of the RHN service including software updates are included with eachRed Hat Enterprise Linux subscription. RHN notifies administrators of updates, permitsupdates to be applied immediately or scheduled, allows additional software to beinstalled, and more. Refer to Chapter 3, “Operating System Updates,” for details. To activate the RHN subscription for the system, select Yes, I’d like to register now andclick Forward.TIPIf you choose not to activate your subscription or register the system with RHN, youcan do so later by going to http://www.redhat.com/apps/activate/ and executing thecommand rhn_register as root.Next, you need to choose which server to connect to for receiving software updates (seeFigure 2.7). Most users will connect to Red Hat Network. Only select the other option ifyou have an RHN Satellite or RHN Proxy Server setup on your network. If you don’t have a Red Hat login, click Create a New Account on the next screen.Otherwise, enter your existing Red Hat login and password to continue. If you alreadyhave a login, it is extremely important to use it for every system registration so that allyour systems are associated with the same account and can be grouped for services ormirroring later.
