Refer to thedocumentation for your version of Windows for detailed information on connecting to aSamba share. The method for connecting to a Windows Samba server and <strong>Linux</strong> Sambaserver are the same. This section goes into detail about how to connect to a Samba server,<strong>Linux</strong> or Windows, from a <strong>Red</strong> <strong>Hat</strong> <strong>Enterprise</strong> <strong>Linux</strong> system.NOTEConnecting to a Samba share with the Desktop File Browser and smbclient do notrequire root privileges. However, the mount.cifs and mount -t cifs commands must be run as the root user.Connecting Using the Desktop File BrowserTo view all available shares on the network (except those that have visibility disabled),select Places, Network Servers from the desktop menu. As shown in Figure 13.8, eachserver icon represents a share server. Double-click on it to view the shared directories onthe server. A list of workgroups will appear. Double-click on the workgroup to view the Sambaservers in that workgroup.
