An OCR d<strong>at</strong>eof 1779 was obtained from this fe<strong>at</strong>ure.FEATURE 238 – HISTORIC POSTFe<strong>at</strong>ure 238 is a round post measuring 0.8 by 0.7 feet and extending 0.6 feet into subsoil. The fillconsists of dark yellowish brown (30YR3/4) loamy sand. Artifacts consisted of two squareshanked nails, one undecor<strong>at</strong>ed creamware (1762-1820), and two pieces of olive green bottleglass. Prehistoric artifacts consist of one Thoms Creek Plain sherd and one rhyolite flake fragment.An OCR d<strong>at</strong>e of 1780 was obtained from this fe<strong>at</strong>ure.FEATURE 239 – HISTORIC PITFe<strong>at</strong>ure 239 is an amorphous pit measuring 3.4 by 2.4 feet and extending 0.6 feet into subsoil.The fill consisted of dark reddish gray (2.5YR4/1) loamy sand. The fe<strong>at</strong>ure is situ<strong>at</strong>ed within arectangular area outlined by historic posts and adjacent to an area of burnt sand. This area isbelieved to represent a stick and clay chimney. Historic artifacts consisted of a handmade brickfragment, three square shanked nails, one white salt glazed stoneware (1740-1775), fiveundecor<strong>at</strong>ed creamwares (1762-1820), one Staffordshire slipware (1670-1795), two clear glazedredwares, one sherd resembling Bartlam’s Pineapple ware (1765-1781: South 1993), one piece ofiron slag, and one kaolin clay pipe bowl fragment. The ceramics provide a mean ceramic d<strong>at</strong>e of1777, suggesting this fe<strong>at</strong>ure d<strong>at</strong>es to the last quarter of the 18 th century. An OCR d<strong>at</strong>e of 1735was obtained from this fe<strong>at</strong>ure. Prehistoric artifacts consist of three medium sand tempered plainsherds and one piece of quartz sh<strong>at</strong>ter.FEATURE 240 – POSTFe<strong>at</strong>ure 240 is a circular post measuring 0.8 feet in diameter and extending 0.9 feet into subsoil.The fill consists of dark grayish brown (10YR4/2) loamy sand. Artifacts consist of one residualprehistoric sherd and one rhyolite flake fragment. Despite the absence of historic artifacts, a 1772d<strong>at</strong>e was obtained from an OCR sample. It is possible th<strong>at</strong> the post is historic.FEATURE 241 – HISTORIC POSTFe<strong>at</strong>ure 241 is an amorphous post measuring 0.9 by 0.4 feet in size and extending 0.9 feet intosubsoil. The fill consists of very dark gray (10YR3/1) loamy sand. Artifacts consist of one squareshanked nail, one residual prehistoric sherd, and one chert interior flake.FEATURE 243 –HISTORIC POSTFe<strong>at</strong>ure 243 is a rectangular post measuring 0.4 by 0.8 feet in size and extending 0.4 feet intosubsoil. The fill consists of very dark grayish brown (10YR3/2) loamy sand. Artifacts consistedonly of one handmade brick fragment.
