The <strong>Project</strong> will be monitored on a “first alert” basis to allowany problems to be quickly detected and clearly understood so changes in mitigation measures ordesign can be made accordingly. The EMP will also ensure mitigation measures areimplemented correctly, project effects on biophysical or socioeconomic VECs/VSECs aredocumented, natural changes in the environment (distinguishing them from project-relatedimpacts) are measured, the effectiveness of reclamation efforts is measured and permitrequirements are being met.9.1.2 Environmental Awareness ProgramA formal environmental awareness program will inform employees, contractors and visitors toenvironmental commitments made by <strong>Sabina</strong>, as well as the expected code of conduct andenvironmental stewardship of all people on site. The objective is to inform and raise awarenessof the EMS in the workforce and with visitors to ensure that environmental protection is aconstant priority with everyone on site.9.1.3 Environmental Monitoring ProgramAn ongoing environmental monitoring program will be integrated into the EMS as a tool toprovide feedback on how well impacts have been predicted and to allow appropriate correctiveactions to be taken, should unexpected impacts occur.
