Of major interest to both PIs is theunderstanding of the signaling molecules and pathways involved in triggeringadaptive changes in the cell’s function following perturbations in the cell’senvironment. An important tool to look at rapid changes in these importantorchestral molecules is a preparative Two-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis(2-DGE) System. The purchase of such a system would open entirely newdiscovery opportunities by allowing the research applicants to systematicallydetect and define changes in cell proteins when exposed to environmentalstress.
