1717.2.EMPLOYEESSHARE SUBSCRIPTION AND PURCHASE OPTIONSThis program, which brings together local communitiesand major businesses in the Savoie region,decided to focus in 2009/2010 particularly on businessesin the Maurienne valley. Help is provided in theform of free advice given by managers and engineersfrom partner companies. It can also take the formof interest-free or preferential-rate loans using thefunds which the scheme has built up.SafetyIn 2009, an increase in measures to raise awarenessof risks and prevent their occurrence resulted in anoverall improvement in safety performance.The number of accidents leading to time off work fellfor the third consecutive year. Accident frequencyrates and seriousness also improved slightly overall.17.3. EMPLOYEE PROFIT-SHARINGThe Company and its French subsidiaries apply thestatutory scheme for employee profit sharing or, insome cases, operate under an exemption. Sums receivedare invested in VICAT shares under the GroupSavings Plan (Plan d'épargne Groupe - "PEG").In addition, the Company has put in place a profitsharingagreement.
