Intermediate Apprenticeship/Advanced Apprenticeship(Level 2/3)Professional CookeryThese Apprenticeships will help you developyour skills in a number of areas, including;cookery, food hygiene and kitchen safety.At Intermediate Level, you will learn toprepare and cook basic dishes, includingsoup, fish, meat, poultry and vegetables.The Advanced Apprenticeship allowsstudents to build upon this training anddevelop their cooking skills further so thatthey can produce more complex dishes,as well as fresh pasta dishes and hot& cold desserts. Both qualifications aredesigned for students operating in a workingenvironment and aim to give you the skillsto make an effective contribution to aprofessional kitchen.Entry RequirementsFor the Intermediate Apprenticeship, you need GCSEEnglish and Maths at grade D or above. At Advanced Level,you need to have Level 2 Functional Skills qualificationsin English and Maths, or an equivalent, and evidence ofLevel 2 Professional Cookery skills. For both courses, youwill also need to pass an interview and either work in afood preparation or cooking role or have an offer to beginworking in this area before the start of your course.Career Prospects/ProgressionSuccessful completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeshipmeans you can apply for a Level 3 qualification, such asthe Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery.If you complete the Advanced Apprenticeship, youcould progress to a Higher Apprenticeship linked with aFoundation degree in Culinary Arts or another relevantLevel 3 qualification. If you are interested in movingto a supervisory role, you can apply for the AdvancedApprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision & Leadership.City & Guilds Diploma (Level 2)Food & Beverage ServiceThis qualification is ideal for studentswanting to gain the skills needed to delivera great dining experience to customers.You will learn essential skills in areas likefood safety, handling payments & bookingsand serving food & beverages.
