City & Guilds Diploma (Level 2)Increasing <strong>Part</strong>icipation in Sport& Active LeisureThis industry-recognised qualificationaims to provide you with the underpinningknowledge required to work in Sport &Active Leisure. The national occupationalstandards have been integrated into thiscourse to ensure you are well prepared foremployment. During the course, you willlearn about Health & Safety and SportsFaculty Operations and can chose fromoptional modules including Injury in Sport,Sport as a Business and Working with<strong>Part</strong>icipants with a Disability. You mayalso be able to take the Sports LeadershipAward, National Governing Body Awardsand a First Aid certificate.Entry RequirementsYou need at least two GCSEs at grade C or above andD and E grades in a range of subjects.Course ExpensesSports kit – approximately £100. Sports Leadership AwardBooklet – approximately £27. There may also be feesassociated with gym membership, sports enrichmentactivities and complementary courses/qualifications.Work ExperienceYou will gain additional experience by volunteering atdifferent sporting events during the course.Career Prospects/ProgressionSuccessful students can progress onto a Level 3 coursein Sport, such as the Diploma or Extended Diploma, orseek employment in the Sport & Leisure industry.NVQ Diploma (Level 2)Instructing Exercise & FitnessThis qualification is designed for Exerciseand Fitness Instructors who are capable ofplanning, delivering and evaluating a seriesof sessions independently. You will use thetheoretical aspects to plan and deliver arange of fitness-based programmes. This isa Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)recognised qualification. Alongside thiscourse, you will also complete the NVQCertificate in Activity Leadership.Entry RequirementsYou need a range of GCSEs at C-F grade, a minimum ofa Level 1 English qualification and proven coaching orleadership experience.Course ExpensesSports kit – approximately £105. Community SportsLeadership Qualification log book – £26.25.Work ExperienceYou will complete a range of fitness and coachingplacements, working with children, disabled clients andsports performers in a realistic working environment.Trips/ResidentialsThere are many opportunities for various trips throughout theyear, including optional visits to Wimbledon and Twickenham.Career Prospects/ProgressionFollowing successful completion of this course, you canapply for coaching and fitness positions or continue yourtraining with a Level 3 qualification, such as the Diplomain Sport, or National Governing Body qualifications relatingto specific roles.
