Student RepresentativesThe voice and opinions of our students are very important to <strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>, so we havemade sure that there are a number of ways that you can give feedback on issues related toyour life here. Our students can talk to one of a team of student representatives about issuesthat matter to them, such as the quality of teaching, facilities or services available or collegepolicies and procedures.Being a Student RepresentativeNot only can you give feedback to your studentrepresentatives, you can also volunteer to be one!Applications are usually requested in September eachyear. By being a student representative, you show thatyou are responsible and have a range of valuable skillsincluding communication, problem solving and negotiationskills. Depending upon your chosen career, these may bevery attractive to future employers.Types of Student RepresentativeThe student representatives include:Tutor Group Representatives – When you join <strong>Yeovil</strong><strong>College</strong>, you will become part of a tutor group. Everytutor group has an elected representative who gathersfeedback from the rest of the group and reports itto the Faculty Director at a termly meeting of all thedepartment’s tutor representatives.Faculty Curriculum Representatives – This grouprepresents faculty and subject areas within the <strong>College</strong>.Faculty curriculum representatives are chosen from thetutor group representatives and meet on a termly basis aspart of the Student <strong>Part</strong>nership Council.Service Area Representatives – This group collectsfeedback related to specific services and facilitiesused by our students, such as IT, catering and learningresources, e.g. books, journals and DVDs. The servicearea representatives also meet as part of the Student<strong>Part</strong>nership Council.<strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Union (YCSU)You can also get your voice heard through the YCSU.Members of the YCSU executive meet regularly withother student representatives as part of the Student<strong>Part</strong>nership Council.The Student <strong>Part</strong>nership Council – WorkingTogether for a Better Student ExperienceThe Student <strong>Part</strong>nership Council (SPC) is a group,which aims to bring together student representativesfrom various subject and service areas with seniorrepresentatives of <strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>. In this forum, studentscan hear first-hand about developments within the<strong>College</strong> and discuss them openly with each other andstaff. By working together in this way, we hope to makeyour college experience the best possible.
