Your Care & SupportThe Learner Support TeamThe Learner Support Team offers support, advice andguidance on a wide range of academic, social and emotionalissues. If you feel you need support from any of thefollowing specialist staff, contact us as soon as possible.The Learning LinkAll students have different learning needs. Learning Linkstaff (Specialist Tutors and Learning Support Practitioners)are there to offer students, who have specific learningdifficulties and/or disabilities such as Dyslexia, ADHD,Asperger, mental ill-health or physical difficulties, a widerange of academic support. They aim to help you reachyour full potential on your chosen course. Our highlyskilled staff will be able to discuss and agree with you theappropriate support which meets your individual needs.Student Support AdvisersMental health difficulties are quite common. Many thingscan impact on mental health and wellbeing and can affectanyone and their ability to cope. Confidential support fromthese Advisers is available to all students.Student Health AdviserThe Student Health Adviser works with and forstudents on all aspects of health. The service has beenawarded Gold Status under the Respect Initiative bySomerset Primary Care Trust, Healthy FE status and the‘You’re Welcome’ accreditation for young people friendlyhealth services.The <strong>College</strong> Chaplaincy AdviserThe <strong>College</strong> Chaplaincy Adviser supports all faiths withinthe <strong>College</strong> and is assisted by volunteers from variouschurches and faith communities.Careers & Skills Adviser (Working forCareers South West)The Careers & Skills Adviser offers impartial adviceand guidance to support career choices.Safeguarding OfficerThe <strong>College</strong>’s designated Safeguarding Officer isavailable to discuss any aspect of safety or welfare andoffer support.Student and Customer Services TeamThe Student and Customer Services Team can helpwith all your transport and finance enquiries. Gettingto and from college easily is important if you are to getthe most from your course. See pages 107-108 formore information.Your Personal TutorYou will have a Personal Tutor at <strong>College</strong>, usually one ofthe lecturers who teaches you. You will meet your Tutor atleast once a week with your tutor group and have regularone-to-one meetings. Your Tutor will help you to settleinto the <strong>College</strong>, keep a close eye on your progress andattendance and be the first person to turn to should anyproblem arise affecting your college work.<strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>Safeguarding Statement<strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong> takes Safeguarding responsibilitiesvery seriously. This means that we have ensuredthat everyone working in the <strong>College</strong> hassuccessfully completed the necessary clearancesto enable them to work with young people andvulnerable adults. It also means that we have a staffmember who is specifically trained and nominatedas the designated Safeguarding Officer withinthe <strong>College</strong>. <strong>Part</strong> of our legal duty to safeguardlearners may also include the need to consult withand take advice from other agencies such as thePolice or Social Services, should the need arise.
