Hair & BeautyNVQ Diploma (Level 1)Hairdressing & Beauty TherapyVRQ Diploma (Level 2)Women’s HairdressingAvailable at both Yeovil College’s maincampus and the North Dorset TechnicalCollege, this course will help you developa practical understanding of the underlyingprinciple skills needed to work in the Hair& Beauty industry. It has been designedusing the National Occupational Standardsto give you a platform from which you canbegin your career as a Hair Stylist or BeautyTherapist or continue to higher level training.Entry RequirementsYou must have a proven interest in the Hairdressing &Beauty Therapy industry and successfully complete aninterview and trade test to join the course. This courseis suitable for those who have completed Salon Servicesor Hair & Beauty study courses, but no prior experience ofHairdressing or Beauty Therapy is required.Course ExpensesUniform – £72.95. Kit – £120.Career Prospects/ProgressionIf you successfully complete the course, you canprogress to a Level 2 course in either Beauty Therapyor Hairdressing, such as the NVQ Diploma orIntermediate Apprenticeship.This course will help you develop a practicalunderstanding of the underlying principlesand skills required for the Hairdressingindustry. It has been designed usingthe National Occupational Standards inHairdressing to give you the work skills youwill need and provide a platform for you toprepare for employment in the industry orfurther training. This course is available atboth Yeovil College and the North DorsetTechnical College, Shaftesbury.Entry RequirementsYou must have a proven interest in the Hairdressingindustry and successfully complete an interview and tradetest to join this course. Although the course is suitablefor those who have completed Salon Services or Hair &Beauty Study courses, no prior experience of Hairdressingis required.Course ExpensesKit (includes everything you will need to complete thecourse) – approximately £230. Uniform – approximately£99. Students are required to be in uniform and have theirfull kit for all sessions.Trips/ResidentialsTrips to hair shows and trade fairs may be arranged.You will also be encouraged to take part in the NationalHairdressers Federation competition at local andregional level.Career Prospects/ProgressionOn the successful completion of this course, you areencouraged to progress on to the one year NVQDiploma (Level 2) in Hairdressing.
