BTEC Diploma (Level 3)Sport (Performance & Excellence)This course, based on industry-recognisedoccupational standards, will help you developyour specialist knowledge, practical skillsand understanding in areas including nutrition,physiology, fitness, sports massage andsports injuries. You will have the opportunityto gain a wide knowledge of differentsports while developing in-depth analysisof your chosen sports through our SportsAcademies and enrichment programmes.You will also have the opportunity tocomplete the Community Sports LeadershipAward (CSLA) and Higher Sports LeadershipAward (HSLA) during this course, as well asa Level 1 National Governing Body Awardand First Aid qualification. This course willgive you an excellent, all round experienceand a real head start at university or work.Entry RequirementsYou need at least five GCSEs at grade C or above,including English. You must also demonstrate a keeninterest in learning and have a proven commitment toparticipating in sport.Course ExpensesSports kit/coaching kit, including tracksuit, smock top,t-shirt/polo shirt and bag, gym membership, enrichmentactivities, First Aid certificate, CSLA and HSLAqualifications – approximately £200.Trips/ResidentialsYou will have the opportunity to visit Wimbledon,Twickenham, <strong>Yeovil</strong> Town Football Club, sports careerconventions and universities.Career Prospects/ProgressionThe course is equivalent to two A Levels or 280 UCASpoints. If you successfully complete this course, you canprogress to higher qualifications such as the Foundationdegree in Sports Development & Coaching available atthe University Centre <strong>Yeovil</strong> or NVQ in Coaching,Leadership & Instruction. Previous students have studiedSport, Leisure Management and Teaching.
