NVQ Diploma (Level 3)Beauty Therapy (General)This qualification is based on NationalOccupation Standards for Beauty Therapyand is designed for students who wishto advance within the profession or haveambitions to manage or own a salon.During this course, you will build upon theskills gained at Level 2, so that you developinto a highly proficient, competent andprofessional Beauty Therapist. In addition,you will learn a range of advanced treatmenttechniques, including electrical face & bodytreatments, electrolysis, eyelash extensionsand body massage. You will also completeadditional training in specialist treatments,including Environ skincare, Jane Iredalemake-up, intimate female waxing and FakeBake Spray Tanning, as well as ‘StandingTall workshop’.Entry RequirementsYou must have successfully completed the NVQDiploma (Level 2) Beauty Therapy or equivalentqualification to join this course.Course ExpensesKit (including textbook and uniform) – approximately£300. The busy salons providean opportunity to develop and enhanceyour practical skills in a realistic workingenvironment and practice complex andvaried treatments under the supervision ofhighly experienced and qualified teachingstaff. Both courses promote teamwork,good personal conduct, ethical practiceand professionalism.Entry RequirementsFor Level 2, you need three GCSEs grade C or above,NVQ Level 1 or a Certificate in Salon Services atCredit or Distinction. For Level 3, you need NVQLevel 2 in Beauty Therapy or an equivalent vocationalHair & Beauty qualification.Course ExpensesYou will need a kit.Career Prospects/ProgressionIf you successfully complete the Level 2 course, youwill be qualified to work in a salon and offer nail, facial,basic hand massages and pedicures. If you completethe Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, you will be ableto enter into a supervisory, trainee management or headtherapist role. You will have the skills and experience toprovide a range of advanced facial and body treatments.Reception duties and sale of products/services are anintegral part of the training on both courses.Career Prospects/ProgressionIf you successfully complete this qualification, you willhave the necessary understanding and skills to work asa senior beauty therapist or salon manager. You can alsoconsider self-employment as a beauty therapist.
