It is legal to delete a carriage return. When the cursor is at the end of theline, press D for Delete. Then press __,..until the cursor moves to thebeginning of the next line. After completing the deletion by pressingCONTROL-C, you may find that the line extends beyond the end of screenwith a I at the rightmost position in the line. The text is not lost, but is notdisplayed. The I indicates that there are characters in the line extendingbeyond the 79th position.Refer to "Delete" later in this chapter for a full discussion of text deletion.Saving Your WorkFinally, when the text is the way you want it, press Q for Quit and thenpress w for Write. The system asks you for a filename by which to storeyour new file on a disk. For example, if you named your new fileMYFIRST:PROGRAMyour file would be saved on the disk named MYFIRST: in a file namedPROGRAM.TEXT.If you wish to leave the Editor, press E to Exit and return to the PascalCommand line.
