To insure that we achieve each of those goals, our Sustainability Operations Group (SOG) derived strategies, specific action plans, and measures of success for FY 2010-<strong>2012</strong>. The SOG is a cross-divisional team which has representatives from all segments of the college including student representation. The SOG will work with theappropriate division to support efforts to attain our sustainability goals.<strong>Chesapeake</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> for SustainabilitySustainability is one of five core themes in <strong>Chesapeake</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s new strategic plan. It drives our efforts to supportthe interconnected environmental, economic, and social needs of Our Vision: <strong>Chesapeake</strong> will our local area and of the broader world. Throughsustainability we can meet “the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations tomeet their own needs.” (Brundtland Commission, 1989)be an educational leader in aThe <strong>College</strong> has identified seven sustainability goals:thriving, ecologically stable1. Promote and model environmental and social responsibility.2. Improve campus energy efficiency.3. Support “green” business development.4. Offer learning opportunities in and across disciplines and through co-curricular activities5. Build on the cultural heritage of the Shore as we develop new academic and career programs.6. Use transparent, inclusive budget processes to ensure appropriate allocation of resources.7.
