Theoriginal building and the first major additionare pre-manufactured metal buildingstructures; subsequent additions are metalframed. On-going maintenance andmodifications to building systems has beenrequired to keep up with the repairs andalterations that the building requires, all thewhile affected by renovation work in otherbuildings. A loose thermal envelopeburdens an inefficient HVAC system.Mechanical and electrical systems are inneed of replacement and modernization, and the roof has needed periodic repairand replacement. Until the renovations toother campus buildings are complete, theMTC remains the only building on campuswhich can provide the surge space neededto temporarily house displaced functions.4-18
