8301 COOPERATIVE EXTENSION PROGRAMDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONVirginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) is a cooperative effort of local, state and federalgovernment to provide educational programs for the citizens of Bedford. Most programsare offered at little or no cost to participants. VCE is an educational outreach program ofVirginia’s land grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Programsare offered in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and ConsumerSciences, 4-H youth development and Community Viability. Locally, programs are alsooffered in the area of home horticulture through volunteer Extension Master Gardenersand nutrition programs targeted at limited resource families through the Family NutritionProgram (FNP).
