2170 VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAMDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Victim/Witness Assistance Program helps ensure that crime victims and witnessesreceive fair and compassionate treatment while participating in the criminal justicesystem. This is in compliance with the Crime Victims and Witness Rights Act of 1995.The office provides assistance to victims in dealing with their victimization and assistingthem throughout the complexities of the criminal justice system. Services are focused infive basic areas as follows:1. Victim and Witness Protection2. Financial Assistance3. Notifications4. Victim Input5. Courtroom AssistanceCrisis intervention, referrals and post trial assistance are also provided.
