1320 REGISTRARDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Registrar’s Office is required by the Code of Virginia to register, reinstate, transfer,and upgrade voter records for any qualified citizen of Virginia, as well as delete thosecitizens who are no longer qualified to vote. The Registrar is required to handle allabsentee voting and candidate filings. Services also include citizen education programsrelated to registration and voting; training programs for Precinct Election Officials; andreceiving and maintaining candidate forms and campaign finance reports.
