and policymakers at the climate negotiations could well be amplified by the
emerging expediency of a shift away from fossil fuels for reasons other than
climate change. On the other hand, should energy events conspire to trigger
another global financial crash – as seems entirely possible – the sudden plunge
into worldwide economic crisis could easily divert attention from climate
change to much more immediate concerns.
Whatever happens, great drama can be assured in the year ahead.
Staring into the fire, I have an idea. It is to write a live history of the
drama, as I see and experience it, as events unfold. I will edit my diary into a
hopefully readable true story, and publish it as a free-download monthly serial.
I will call it “The Winning of The Carbon War”.
Because I have come to the view that we might just be starting to win it.
